DESCRIPTION:Duration: 5 Days \nDelegates: 3 – 6 \nThe New Roads and Street Works Act requires that anyone who executes\, works for\, or on behalf of\, a utility company\, is qualified for the activities being carried out. \nA NRSWA Streetworks Operative is anyone who carries out the manual excavation and reinstatement of footpaths and highways. \n\nNRSWA Operative Units\nThe following NRSWA Training units are covered: \n\nUnit LA (Was Unit 1) – Location & avoidance of underground apparatus\nUnit O1 (Was Unit 2) – Signing\, lighting and guarding\nUnit O2 (Was Unit 3) – Excavation in the highway\nUnit O3 (Was Unit 4) – Reinstatement & compaction of backfill materials\nUnit O4 (Was Unit 5) – Reinstatement of sub base & road in non bituminous materials\nUnit O5 (Was Unit 6) – Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials\nUnit O6 (Was Unit 7) – Reinstatement of hot lay bituminous materials (subject to centre)\nUnit O7 (Was Unit 8) – Reinstatement of concrete slabs (subject to centre)\nUnit O8 (Was Unit 9) – Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways\n\nCertification \nOn successfully achieving a pass mark on both the practical and online assessment the candidate will qualify for a SQA certificate of unit achievement. Depending which units are achieved we will then apply for their SWQR card\, which will enable them to carry out New Roads and Street works activities on the highway in line with legislative requirements.
