Inspiring Future Talent with On-Site Training for the CECA Scotland Academy

On Friday, Luddon Construction was proud to support the CECA Scotland Academy by delivering hands-on road surfacing sessions to students at both South Lanarkshire College and West College Scotland.

Representing the business were Tony Traynor, Director of Operations, and Adrian Aikman, General Manager – HR, HSEQ and Training, who were joined by one of our experienced road surfacing squads. Together, they provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical, real-world experience in road surfacing techniques.

At South Lanarkshire College, students assisted with the repair of patches in the existing car park. Later in the day, at West College Scotland, the students were involved in overlaying a section of the site’s access road. Under the close supervision of our skilled surfacing operatives, the students took the lead on many of the tasks, demonstrating teamwork and enthusiasm for the industry.

Special thanks go to Scott Gray of South Lanarkshire College and Jamie Kerr of West College Scotland for their support in arranging and facilitating these visits.

It was encouraging to see such strong engagement and potential from the students. At Luddon, we remain committed to helping develop the next generation of civil engineering operatives by creating opportunities for meaningful industry experience.

A huge thank you as well to our surfacing team, whose expertise, professionalism and mentoring ensured a safe and engaging session for all involved.
