Luddon Construction have been appointed as main contractor to deliver the refurbishment of a retail unit in Coatbridge, which will become a new Aldi store.
The existing B&Q has been sub-divided to create the new 20,000sqft unit, with other works including demolition of the existing external trade yard, installation of new curtain walling, over cladding externally and the construction of a new dock leveller ramp. There is also installation of new water and power services to the building.
Internally, the works involve erecting a new dividing wall between the sales floor and warehouse/amenity area and block walls in the amenity area. Existing floors have to be shot blasted ahead of the fit out works and the warehouse floor will be concreted.
Car park improvements will be carried out, with drainage to be upgraded, existing concrete to be overlaid with blacktop and the installation of porous block car parking bays.
The design team appointed to this project consists of Smith Design Architects, CSQ Consult as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, Quattro Consult as Engineers and KJ Tait as M&E Consultants.
Construction work began in March this year with the works due for completion by Summer 2023.
