The Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven individual to take ownership of project delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing site teams, coordinating resources, controlling costs and programmes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will also play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering projects across our Civil Engineering Division.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct labour, plant, staff and equipment to ensure projects are completed on time, to specification and within budget
  • Manage and monitor project programmes, progress and resources
  • Carry out site visits to ensure works are delivered in accordance with the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Plan
  • Assess the scope of works, risks and requirements prior to commencement
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders, supporting repeat and new business opportunities
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and standards are implemented effectively across all project works
  • Represent the company at pre-start, progress, commercial and final account meetings
  • Manage procurement and ordering of materials and plant
  • Provide leadership and technical support to Site Engineers and site teams
  • Ensure quality control of works in line with drawings and specifications
  • Attend internal meetings including project handover, progress and cost reviews

 

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and the Company’s HSE Management Systems
  • Plan, implement and monitor safe systems of work, ensuring RAMS are in place, briefed and followed
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across site teams and subcontractors
  • Ensure personnel, plant and equipment are competent, authorised and fit for purpose
  • Monitor site activities through inspections and audits and investigate incidents as required
  • Intervene and stop work where unsafe practices or conditions are identified

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • HNC/D in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a civil engineering project or site management role
  • Experience in large-scale cut & fill works and precast/in-situ concrete
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to set out civil engineering sites

 

Desirable:

  • Degree (BSc/Hons) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • SMSTS 5-day qualification
  • Background progressing from a Site Engineer role
