As part of our plan to enhance and improve our health and safety performance, we developed in conjunction with our workforce, a set of simple rules around key areas of our everyday operations which we believe will contribute to strengthening our safety culture and performance.
In developing these rules, we looked at past performance, risk assessment data and fundamentally, the views of our workforce. This was achieved through consultation with our safety reps, line managers and feedback methods such as surveys and working groups.
This collaboration resulted in the establishment of the Luddon ‘Ground Rules for Safety’. Our Ground Rules are at the heart of our safety vision and the result of our ongoing commitment to the elimination of incidents and injuries.
Our Ground Rules for Safety were originally established back in 2016 but as we continue to strive for continuous improvement, we chose to conduct a further workforce survey between 2020 and 2021 to find out what our teams thought of the Ground Rules and whether any changes should be considered. The results of this workforce survey led to the introduction of three new rules, which are:
