Hunterston Project receives our June Safety Award!

Luddon Construction have been contracted to carry out works for Scottish Power Energy Networks to maintain system strength after the closure of Hunterston Power Station.

These works include refurbishment of approximately 10km of currently de-energised overhead line circuits between Hunterston East, Neilston 400kV and Devol Moor 400kV substations and to create a second Hunterston East to Neilston 400kV circuit.

As part of this project, Neilston 400kV substation layout was to be reconfigured to a single switch arrangement. Reconfiguration of the mesh corner in the Neilston 275kV substation is also required to allow the cable connection between the 275kV and 400kV substations.

During these challenging and safety critical works our site team have continually delivered this project scope with ongoing Health, Safety and Environmental performance at the top of their agenda.

Safety Inspections have been carried out, with the team also being involved in ongoing Safety Observation Conversations and raising Safety Observation Reports when required.

This high level of proactive safety management is not unusual to Luddon, neither is working within such safety critical environments, but it’s always great to see just how well this is carried out.

Well done to all involved!
