Refurbishment of Warehouses Underway at Glasgow Whisky Campus

Refurbishment of Warehouses Underway at Glasgow Whisky Campus

Luddon Construction have recently commenced on site to deliver the £2.2m refurbishment of three existing warehouses to create a new bottling line and cask storage facility for Douglas Laing & Co Ltd. The site will also house a new spirit tank farm allowing for expansion of the supply and distribution capabilities.

The construction of the project is undertaken in conjunction with the design team consisting of Convery Prenty Architects, Blyth & Blyth as Engineer and Mechanical and Electrical Consultant, Allen Associates as Process Engineering Consultant and Doig+Smith as Quantity Surveyor.

The refurbishment works create various working compartments. In order to achieve the necessary standards, Luddon Construction are required to upgrade fire protection, install division walls utilising steel, block and composite panels to provide clean hygienic working areas. An extensive mechanical and electrical installation ensures the facility will perform to the high demands.

Externally, the existing grounds will accommodate the new tank farm with deep piling, reinforced concrete storage bunds and drainage, whilst structural steel pipe racks, access towers and platforms will be installed to accommodate the production process.

The project is due for completion by October 2021.
