Bridgeton Community Learning Campus Benefits from Improved Outdoor Space

Bridgeton Community Learning Campus Benefits from Improved Outdoor Space

The Old Dalmarnock Road Green Infrastructure project involved transforming vacant land beside the Bridgeton Community Learning Campus into ‘active greenspace.’

As part of this project, community benefits were carried out to improve the outdoor space around the Community Learning Campus.

The works involved:

  • Creation of a new garden area
  • Installation of fencing around the new garden area
  • Raised planters for the Community Learning Campus to grow their own plants / vegetables
  • Re-stoning of the entrance area
  • Installation of a 10ft storage unit for the centre to store tools
  • Re-rendering the building as it had been vandalised over the years
  • Providing new garden furniture, PPE and hand tools

The £1m green infrastructure project also involved creating a new community park which included a woodland path for walkers, areas to support biodiversity, new entrances and a junior bike circuit.

Local groups and residents have been involved in the plans at every stage and hope that it will be an important asset in the heart of Bridgeton.
