World Mental Health Day 2024: Let’s Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace

In recognition of #WorldMentalHealthDay 2024, and as a demonstration of our commitment to creating an open and inclusive working environment where mental health is a priority, we are proud to highlight some of the work we have done on this very important topic.

This year, the global theme is “It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace”, emphasising the critical role employers play in creating environments where employees can thrive.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we have successfully delivered another accredited Mental Health First Aid course, equipping more of our team members with the skills to recognise and respond to mental health issues in the workplace.

We are proud of our colleagues who have taken this step to support mental health awareness and create a safer, more supportive working environment.

This year, as part of our HSEQ Improvement Plan, we committed to the development of a Mental Health booklet and today we are excited to have launched ‘A Guide to Mental Health at Work’.

This guide has been developed to help promote a supportive and mentally healthy workplace, providing valuable insights and practical tips for our teams and other associated with our business and beyond.

The digital version can be accessed on our LinkedIn.

Our ongoing Monthly ‘Hazard of the Month’ communication has also been issued company-wide and therefore will be communicated to all our sites today with the idea being this specific communication is presented to our teams alongside the issue of our Mental Health booklet.

Last but not least, we are taking the opportunity to spotlight our involvement in the production of the short film #NoStigma. Produced in collaboration with the Grangemouth Contractors Safety Alliance (GCSA) and Forth Valley College, this film highlights the importance of open conversations about mental health, breaking down barriers to understanding and support.

Let’s continue the conversation and work together to foster inclusive workplaces where mental health and wellbeing at work is prioritised, supported and no one feels isolated. Together, we can break the stigma and create healthier work environments for everyone.
