Luddon Construction Secures Three Major Projects at Edinburgh Airport

Luddon Construction is thrilled to announce its recent success in securing three substantial projects at Edinburgh Airport, reflecting the company’s continued excellence in delivering high-quality projects within a live aviation environment. These projects, awarded by Edinburgh Airport Ltd, include the Fast Park Extension, Plane and GAP Parking Developments, and Contingency Road Resurfacing, with a combined value of over £2 million.

The Fast Park Extension project will significantly enhance the airport’s parking infrastructure and involves substantial alterations to the existing FastPark building. Key elements include:

  • Replacement of foul drainage pipes adjacent to the FastPark building, connecting to the main terminal outfall.
  • Reconfiguration of the building layout to add new WCs and convert external areas into internal rooms.
  • Installation of new doors, windows, canopies, and external drainage systems. Internal modifications to key rooms, changing rooms, and welfare rooms to improve functionality and space utilisation.

The Plane and GAP Parking project aims to expand the airport’s parking capacity and provide temporary solutions during peak periods. The works include:

  • Extending the Plane Parking area to add approximately 500 new self-park spaces.
  • Installation of a drainage system, new lighting heads, and perimeter fencing.
  • Development of a temporary GAP parking area with basic surface and facilities to support the FastPark facility during busy periods.

The Contingency Road Resurfacing project focuses on the essential maintenance and upgrade of roadways within the airport. The project encompasses:

  • Repair and redevelopment of the roadway between Eastfield Avenue and Turnhouse Road.
  • Realignment of road sections, installation of street lighting, and implementation of localised traffic calming measures.
  • Installation of new road markings and signage.

Michael Kirby, Project Manager, said: “We are pleased to have been awarded these significant contracts at Edinburgh Airport. Our team is dedicated to delivering these projects to the highest standards, ensuring that we contribute positively to the airport’s infrastructure.”
